Biehler Farbwechsel Thermal and Rainproof Jersey for Men & Ladies

One of the great things about Biehler is that they think about the rider. Many of their garments are designed with the rider position in mind. Yes, it’s wonderful to be comfortable whilst standing still, but when on the bike we’re bent over, our body is in action and we’re activating our muscle groups.

This innovative German brand take all of this into account when designing kit like their Farbwechsel thermal and rainproof jersey.

Living in the north of England, I value good weather proof gear at all times of the year. We once had snow on a ride in June, tackling the roads of Ribblesdale. Every sensible cyclist should have something thermal and rain repellent in their gear setup.

Made from well-cut panels of micro fibre bi-elastic thermal Stelvio, with a water repellent finish, this jersey is a race cut sensation. Fitting like a second skin, it’s not too warm if it’s a chilly spring day with clouds threatening, and it’s ideal for autumn or winter rides too.

Yes, I know I’m writing this in spring, but trust me, you’ll need this jersey at least once this summer if you’re climbing high on a bad weather ride. Thankfully Biehler predicted this, and have used a fine mesh weave fabric under the arms, to help air circulation in this busy area.

The collar is cut low at the front and high at the back, using thermal material on the outer and mesh Lycra inside collar, to help wicking away the moisture of a hard working rider, allowing the body to stay cool where you need it. In terms of storage, there’s three well thought out pockets to the rear, utilising the new sloped Biehler pocket design, improving speedy access. The sleeves are cut to fit aero tight and simply finished off at the cuffs, and the waist has a simple elasticated gel ban to keep it in place and tight fitting. There’s a super tough full length zipper, tucked neatly away behind well stitched material to keep the wind out too.

Design wise, it’s a cool blue collar on our sample, which goes well with all the bibs in the current Biehler range, and looks super stylish and super quality. Plus, there’s a couple of other stylish and funky designs to choose from. Finishing is as expected from Biehler, who are the VW of the cycling clothing world. In action, I’ve used it on long late winter rides, and some hilly spring rides in the Dales too. It’s super comfortable, and allows easy movement due to the race position cut. Warmth is spot on, and the mesh under arms ensures that air keeps things cool while I work hard.

This really is a very simplistic but well thought out piece of kit, and is already a favourite of mine. I’d recommend it to anyone who rides in all weathers.
