Biehler Ultra HEQ cycling jersey B-POWERFUL

Another great custom option from Biehler for groups and clubs. As always with this German brand, the quality is excellent.

Biehler don’t go for fancy strap lines or models. Their gear is designed to do simple things: to be comfortable, stylish, warm and functional.

Okay, so the weather isn’t always great, but the thing is this, at some point in time you will want to throw down the thermals and get out in the short sleeves again. Also, there’s always the addition of some arm warmers to help you out.

Over the past few months we’ve been testing shorts and short sleeved jerseys from German brand Biehler in readiness for the warmer months, so that you our readers know what to look at; and the Ultra HEQ-Powerful jersey from Biehler is a great starting point, with great design and the usual impeccable Biehler quality in the cut, stitching and materials used.

The colours on offer are varied: red, green, blue and white, all subtly woven into the overall scheme, with a black base and white highlights to show off the brand and trim things. All in all it’s a stylish and modern look that isn’t garish but does reflect the quality and coolness of the brand. If you want to look the part, then this jersey has you covered – literally.

You and I both know that one of the tricky things about any race fit jersey is just that – the fit. Far too often brands expect us all to be mini racers with miniscule bodies. We seem to fall out of the jerseys in all the wrong places, producing images to frighten a nervous cat away. However, Biehler are realistic about their sizing, managing to keep the look sleek at the same time as making a jersey that looks great on the racer and keen cyclist alike. How have they done this – by using multiple panels and materials, including a top quality 4 way stretch materials that’s also tough and should easily withstand a few seasons. It’s made in Germany, and we reckon is the clothing the brand equivalent of an Audi; tough, stylish, reliable in all conditions, and super great to look at too.

Down the sides they’ve chosen a Mesh material that allows you to breath when working hard, with a similarly light cloth on the front. There’s a thicker and more windproof offering at the back, and a heavier material used around the high collar to ensure that cold winds are kept at bay. The quick dry MicroFresh sleeve material isn’t a gimmick either; unfortunately the weather here in the Dales means that it’s been thoroughly tested and it works as intended – a great plus point for damp climates!

The sleeves are cut tight fitting and look really smart, and are finished with Powerband micropad technology, working like a theraband to hold things firm. The waist is similarly finished off at the front, with silicon gripper linked in to close the circle firmly.

Pockets are as expected, with the useful addition of a central zipped pocket for valuables. Too often this is missed off by brands, but is a welcome addition for all riders, who frequently look for this. The front zipper is strong and tough, and full length, with a neat material trim to keep the winds at bay. It’s a top quality garment, with a high end finish and design that comes in below £100. It’s more than a match for any other brand on the market today, and will last through the harshest of conditions – like those here in the Yorkshire Dales where we tested it.

How does it feel on and in riding? On both road and trail it’s been a pleasure to wear; and when supplemented with a good base layer, it’s good to go on even the colder days of the year too. Despite that, on the warm days it breathes superbly and wicks well, meaning that you look and feel good from start to finish. This is definitely a brand going places, and this is a great jersey for you to start your own Biehler wardrobe off with.
