Premium Cycling Apparel That Truly Stands Out

Over the years, I’ve tested cycling clothing from many different brands. Most products are good, some are very good, but every now and then you come across something that immediately feels special. That was my experience with the GripGrab PACR Short Sleeve Jersey and PACR Bib Shorts from the Spring/Summer 2026 collection.

From the first ride, it was clear that GripGrab has put a lot of attention to detail into both comfort and performance. The fit is close and sporty, without it feeling tight or restrictive, making the kit super comfortable for both hard training sessions and long days on the bike. Clothing should wrap you like a second skin, and that’s the feeling I get wearing the new PACR collection from GripGrab. Leet’s take a brief look then…

GripGrab PACR ss Women’s Jersey

The PACR Short Sleeve Jersey is made from technical, lightweight and highly breathable materials. The design has been thought out too, with the material choice and thickness varying across the jersey and under the arms. Even on warmer rides, it helps keep you comfortable and prevents that heavy and overheated feeling that some jerseys can create. The fit wraps you perfectly, due to the multi-directional stretch and feels fast and aerodynamic, but most importantly, it just feels nice and really natural to wear.

I love the colours too, especially the purple jersey and its feminine styling.

The jersey features raglan sleeves, and has no underarm seam, a lower collar, and strong silicone grippers at the sleeve hem and the bottom hem, ensuring that it stays in place and allows great freedom of movement and ergonomic comfort. Additionally, the jersey includes three top-entry pockets and a secured zip pocket, allowing for convenient storage. For enhanced visibility, all logos are reflective. The lighter mesh style weave on the side panels is also great for helping you to stay cool and allow air to flow.

GripGrab describe the jersey as being one that ‘you can pick for race days or whenever you feel ready to turn up the pace during epic summer rides!’ For me, I simply love wearing it anytime.

PACR Women’s Bib Shorts

Bib shorts are always a tricky choice for women, for a variety of reasons. Thankfully though, the PACR Bib Shorts are equally impressive. The fabric is top quality and has the right weight and strength, providing good support and compression while still allowing complete freedom of movement. During longer rides, the bibs stay comfortably in place and continue to feel supportive hour after hour. They have UPF50+ sun protection, which is also a nice bonus for cyclists who spend a lot of time outdoors, on long summer rides.

What impressed me the most, however, was the quality of the materials. This is actually the hardest part of the review to describe. You can talk about breathability, compression, comfort, and performance, but the truth is that some things simply need to be experienced. The fabrics used in the PACR collection feel incredibly premium against the skin. They are soft, comfortable, and high quality in a way that is difficult to explain with words alone. It’s one of those products where you immediately notice the difference the moment you put it on. The only way to convey this is to say, ‘You must try them yourself, because they feel really nice!’ Simple, but true!

I also appreciate the direction GripGrab is taking as a company. They continue to improve their products while working towards more responsible manufacturing and material choices. Rather than making big promises, they focus on continuous improvement, which feels both honest and realistic.

After spending time riding in the PACR jersey and bib shorts, I came away feeling genuinely impressed. Everything feels carefully designed with cyclists in mind, from the fit and comfort to the quality of the materials.

Final Verdict

The GripGrab PACR Short Sleeve Jersey and PACR Bib Shorts are excellent choices for cyclists looking for premium comfort, performance, and quality. The fit is excellent, the fabrics feel fantastic, and the overall riding experience is exactly what you would expect from high-end cycling apparel.

Early Season Performance in Nordic Conditions

Early season training in Northern Europe is always a challenge. Cold temperatures, wind, and constantly changing conditions demand cycling gear that is not only comfortable, but reliable over long hours on the bike.Too often brands forget this, working simply towards aero products, whilst not appreciating that comfort and movement equals performance.

Over the past weeks, I’ve been testing several pieces from the GripGrab PACR collection in real training conditions in Estonia – temperatures around +2 to +8°C, strong winds and typical early spring variability. Yes, cold for early spring, but ideal for testing women’s cycling clothing! The focus of this review is on functionality, performance and comfort during structured training (10–14 hours per week), rather than just first impressions. For me, as a semi-pro racer, clothing has first to perform, and that means that it has to be functional – style is an added benefit.

First Impression – Clean Design, Functional Fit

GripGrab follows a very clean and minimal design approach, but what stands out more is the fit. All pieces feel purpose-built for riding, with no unnecessary bulk or distractions. They use a body mapping process, meaning that the fit is performance-oriented but not overly aggressive, which makes it suitable for long endurance sessions without compromising comfort.

How did I find it: overall comfortable, and yes, it did have that necessary movement, whilst being quite simply a nice product to wear. Ultimately, if it’s comfortable and functional, then I feel better and I’ll perform better. Do GripGrab achieve this – yes, I think that they do.

The quality is good, with excellent cut and fabrics, and the pockets are strong and easy to reach, with a good quality zip on the security pocket. Small points matter with cycling kit, far more than loud aesthetics.

Performance in Cold Conditions: Layering System – What Works

GripGrab produce technical fabrics and don’t over-complicate things. Their combination of:

• PACR Thermal Long Sleeve Jersey
• Insulated Midlayer Vest
• Thermal Bib Shorts + Leg Warmers

This proved to be a very effective setup in temperatures between +2 and +8°C. Ultimately, it kept me warm and I felt comfortable. Ultimately, that’s what we want to achieve. It’s unfussy and uncomplicated kit, that allows me the freedom to move on the bike and to relax in the cold temperatures of early spring. The leg warmers stayed firmly fitted and formed a “second-skin” feeling, which is necessary. They didn’t sag and they were comfortable at the upper hem, tucked neatly under the shorts. They were warm without being too warm, and had the right level of moisture beading for light rain. They have superb stretch, due to the quality of the material, which is always a bonus.

Layering and leg warmers are important in early season and races. Would I be happy to take these along to a race – absolutely.

The layering works especially well because:

• the vest adds core warmth without overheating
• the jersey regulates temperature effectively during changing intensity
• the system adapts easily as conditions change during the ride

This is particularly important during longer Zone 2 sessions where body temperature fluctuates over time. Maintaining layers when training in early season can be tricky. Clothes have to work and be comfortable – these are.

On the Bike – Comfort and Stability

During longer rides (2–4 hours), the key factors for me were:

• Stability of the fit – no shifting or adjustment needed
• Breathability – no excessive overheating even during harder efforts
• Freedom of movement – especially noticeable in the upper body

I guess that this is due to the work carried out GripGrab to develop and use the right fabrics. They work closely with world teams such as UNO X, and that feeds down into these jerseys and shorts.

The PACR Thermal Bib Shorts combined with leg warmers provided a surprisingly versatile setup. They offer enough warmth for cold starts, while still feeling lighter and more flexible than full winter tights. Best of all, the compression and cut means that they stay firm and stable when I ride – like a second skin, allowing me to simply focus on performance.

Gloves – Critical in Nordic Conditions

Gloves are often an overlooked but critical element of our cycling kit. GripGrab made their name with gloves, and they still stand out today. The Waterproof Knitted Winter Gloves stood out for me during these tests, as one of the most important pieces of kit in these conditions.

In temperatures close to freezing:

• hands stayed warm without overheating
• grip remained secure in both dry and damp conditions
• no loss of control or dexterity during braking and shifting

For Nordic riders, this is a key detail that can make or break a ride. The gloves fitted comfortably, had the necessary stretch and feel to them; and I was able to use my devices screens with them on – always a bonus. Gloves should never be a secondary thought, and these from GribGrab are a good option for early spring. They feel quality and are tough, and should last a long time.

Breathability vs Protection

One of the most important aspects of early season gear is balancing insulation with breathability.
GripGrab manages this well:

• the fabrics protect against wind and cold
• but still allow moisture to escape during effort

This reduces the “overheating → cooling down → getting cold again” cycle, which is common in spring riding. The kit is stylishly simple, functional and offers that protection from the elements without sacrificing breathability.

Who This Setup Is For

This kit is especially well suited for riders who:

• train consistently in cold or variable conditions
• prioritize functionality over aesthetics
• need reliable gear for long endurance rides

It’s priced in the right area to make it accessible for most riders, and will give you a comfortable ride – and ultimately, that is always a key focus. GripGrab design and produce cycling clothing and accessories that work. The kit is also stylish, in a cool and modern way, which I like. It’s not loud or garish – it simply works on the bike and fits my purpose, whilst adding that modern styling. Fundamentally though, it allows me to train in early spring, with those cold winds, and it functions on long rides in zone 2.

Conclusion

GripGrab may not position itself as the most visible premium brand, but it delivers where it matters most: performance, reliability and functionality in real training conditions.

And for a rider, that’s exactly what counts. I’ve enjoyed testing their latest kit, and it does actually work. They’re a brand that doesn’t go for unnecessary headlines. Instead they focus on function and fit, which is what all cyclists want.

There are certain brands within cycling that you instinctively know produce great quality clothing. They literally stake their very valuable and well earned reputations on the quality of their performance cycling gear – and Rosti from the north of Italy are one such brand. So, when the package arrived in late winter, containing their latest design for spring 2022, I smiled widely.

Rosti HYPNO Summer Jersey

Their HYPNO jersey carries the usual Rosti design credentials, and is like wearing a piece of modern art on fabric. Concentric circles cover the jersey in a hypnotic pattern, with a white background, so that taken as whole, the finished design is modern and chic and yet harps back to those heady days of the hip 1960s. If you’re looking for unique performance clothing, then Rosti is definitely the brand for you. I simply love their artwork. Anyway, to more technical things; how does the jersey stack up in terms of its technicity and performance.

On initial inspection, Rosti have used at least 4 different fabric types on the various parts of the jersey. In doing so, they’ve thought in detail about the body part being covered and how it both performs on the bike and how it needs protecting. For example, there’s a reasonably lightweight fabric chosen for the front, which is lightly perforated to aid air flow. However, the fabric weave and perforations are such that they still keep the cold winds at bay. Yes, it’s a light fabric, but this is a performance jersey. The high quality fabric is chosen to both keep winds out and allow your body to breath. The fabric chosen for the back of the jersey is lighter still, and has a more defined perforation, allowing your sweaty back to breath easily when riding. Then, down the sides of the jersey, Rosti have used a mesh style weave, super light and strong, allowing that extra air flow that hard working arm pits require.

The sleeved are made from a strong 4 way stretch lycra, with that necessary touch of compression. Overall, all of the panels on this stylish jersey are cut to form fit, using high quality multidirectional technical fabrics, meaning that you look and feel great wearing it. The jersey is finished off with a high cut collar, strong and good quality concealed zipper, and a wide elasticated and silicon gripper waist. The 3 rear pockets are strong and stretchy, and Rosti have added that necessary zipped pocket for keys.

Okay, that’s the design and technical detail out of the way, so let’s talk about the overall finishing. One of the great things about Rosti is their quality, and when you turn this jersey inside out, the seams and the stitching is truly superb. It looks like a high quality garment ought to look; it’s balanced, elegant, well thought out and is a jersey that works in harmony with your body. Add to this, the design and fabric technicity and you’ve got a great jersey. On the road it’s been super comfortable, close fitting and stylish, allowing free movement and with excellent airflow, meaning that I’ve been able to ride hard and not end up feeling sweaty and uncomfortable. Now it’s time to look at the shorts.

Rosti Pro 1 Bib Shorts

One aspect of Rosti bib shorts that I really like are the straps. There’s not fiddly and ultra thin and tight fabric straps, often found with other brands. These Rosti Duotone mesh braces are well thought out, made from high quality and strong, wide cut fabric and they sit on your shoulders softly and easily, leaving you feeling just right. They look like quality straps ought to look, they feel like quality straps ought to feel and they certainly are performance orientated and made to be completely comfortable. They’re strong and stretchy and they make you feel like a cyclist ought to feel when wrapped in lycra. And, Rosti have ensured this high quality Duotone fabric is cut to merge into the lower black fabric, with the open back strapping and lower back mesh giving the opportunity for excellent breathability.

The lower short areas are made from the Rosti Thunderbike fabric: 80% Polyammide and 20% Elastane, and are panelled to maximise fit, bonded and stitched together to be ergonomic and form fitting, due to the multi-directional fabric. The cut is designed for performance, meaning that the fabric has a reasonable compression feel to them too. Thunderbike fabric is a rubber polymer; more precisely, a fabric with high density bonds that reinforce its structure. These are a very modern and stylish shorts, and the simple black design means that they easily go with any of the jerseys from the Rosti range. At the thigh, Rosti have used a clean cut finish with an internal silicon gripper, keeping the look modern and maximising the performance feel of the shorts. In use they’re super comfortable on both long and mid-range rides, due to the Rosti Bormio® pad with recycled yarns, which is designed as being suitable for long distances and with a quick-drying 3D structure. It’s certainly a very comfortable pad on long and hilly days in the saddle.

Branding is minimal on the shorts, keeping them modern and stylish. When worn together with the new design Rosti HYPNO jersey, you’ll be well clothed in high quality performance cycling wear for spring and summer.

Rosti Shape Summer Gloves

We finished the outfit off with the Rosti Shape summer gloves. It’s a close fitting performance glove, made from BOOST® strong multi-directional fabric, with excellent padding on the palms. The gloves certainly provide great comfort all day long, due to the softness and strength of the fabric. The inner fabric of the SHAPE gloves is adherent, the thicker palm padding guarantees better protection of the palm of the hand nerves.

The gloves have tabs to help pull them on and off – often a tricky aspect of close fitting summer gloves. The Rosti Logos are embossed but kept subtle and chic, so that these stylish gloves go with any outfit – always a bonus for style conscious riders. The SHAPE gloves also are available in shades of Burgundy red and Forest green alongside the more basic black and white, if you want to add some colour.

VEGA HYPNO Summer Socks

Listen, I know that some people have a foot fetish – that’s their thing and I’m fine with that. I don’t, but I do have a thing for good socks. Coming from a mountain background, I know the value of looking after your feet. After all, it’s the hardest working part of your body and it deserves the best – whether that be custom fitted shoes or the very best socks. And this is truly relevant here, because for a general cycle clothing brand, the latest range of socks from Rosti is truly awesome. They’re ultra high quality and performance, and so well made. Yes, I know that I’ve mentioned the Rosti design ethos before, but these latest socks from this growing Italian brand are almost works of art themselves.

By using the multi-directional lycra fabric on the leg of the sock, Rosti achieve several things. From a performance perspective, the socks are soft, very light and extremely aerodynamic. The upper sock adheres perfectly to the ankle and calf without any rubber band, simply using the fabric and small silicon grippers at the internal edge, promoting blood circulation and minimizing friction with the air. The special fabric is made of 79% polyester and 21% elastane, and keeps the ankle dry and fresh too. Best of all, it feels superb on and stays neatly in place, giving you a gentle compression feel. And, because it’s a lycra based fabric, Rosti can print their awesome designs directly onto the fabric, meaning that you look chic and stylish.

Looking at the lower parts of the sock: the heel, gusset, instep, sole and toe, are skilfully merged into the upper lycra, whilst themselves being a standard woven fabric, designed with specific weaves in the various areas of the foot. There’s good reinforcement on the heel and toe, a string ankle cycle and sole, and a very breathable weave pattern across the bridge and instep areas. It’s certainly a high quality sock, well made and will last a long time. Feet do so much work for the cyclist and socks are not simply an afterthought. Rosti know this and have produced a truly superb summer sock for cyclists, and one that also carries the brand design ethos with pride.

Summary

It’s not often that I’m completely blown away with the quality, design and performance of a brands new cycling clothing. However, everything about this HYPNO outfit from Italian brand Rosti is superb. The level of detail and finishing is excellent, the performance on the bike is super comfortable and form fitting, meaning that you as the cyclist can simply concentrate on the ride. There’s a uniqueness about Rosti cycling clothing, and as we’re all unique too, why not wrap yourself in Italian styling this spring and summer, and take a look yourself at Rosti. The quality of fabrics, finishing and design certainly won’t disappoint and you’ll benefit from the added performance that this modern brand sews into every garment.

ALÉ Thermo Primoloft Winter Cycling Socks

There are two important things about socks, so don’t underestimate them. Your feet are critical, and as a former mountain runner I know this, as does Larisa as an athlete. Look after your feet, with comfortable socks that have some science behind their design. There you go… done.

On a serious note, many brands produce socks as accessories, and yes they’re important. These Alé Thermo Primaloft socks are designed to work between -4 and +8 degrees. They’re woven with various weave patterns, being thicker and softer underneath, with a tight and light weave across the bridge where you need a little compression and some breathability too. The socks have strengthening to the heel and toe and a very fine elasticated weave on the ankle uppers.

Both in the ladies smaller socks and in the men’s socks, Larisa and I tested them in some cold temperatures. Overall, they’re simply a well-made and good quality cycling sock for winter, and they kept our feet super warm. The cuff is good and nicely elasticated and keep the socks up, ensuring a good fit to the foot. Neither of us suffered from overheating feet or adverse sweating, even on long hard rides. The design is very simple, with limited colour branding, meaning that they go well with the Alé winter kit ranges and you’ll look good on your feet

In terms of Larisa’s view, it matched my own in terms of performance, but for style Larisa says: “as like the other ALÉ accessories, I like them to match So I gotthe socks to match my jacket!

Cycling obviously means that your feet work hard, so they deserve some foot love. All too often, expensive socks don’t last long, but these have performed well and survived numerous rides and washes – and they look great … just ask Larisa!

Looking after your ALÉ Kit

Cycle clothing is made from techical fabrics and it’s vital that they are properly looked after, especially when washing.

This short video from ALÉ is a useful guide to help you to make the most of this great kit and to ensure that it keeps on performing long into the future. In particular, always read the labels and make sure that you don’t wash mixed colours. Don’t wash at too high a temperature and turn the garments inside out before placing them into the washing machine.

Cycling gear that looks as good as it feels

Finding great cycling gear is always a challenge, especially for women. The industry seems to have decided that if you want performance clothing that helps keep you comfortable on the bike, you also want to appear as if you are a professional cyclist too. Most of us don’t, we like the idea of high-performance cycling clothing, but also want to have a bit of style with it, and that is exactly what the Sweet Dreams range from DS PRO promises. This modern and forward thinking ladies specific cycle clothing brand pride themselves on stylish performance cycle clothing for women. The question is, do they deliver?

Sweet Dreams, sweet design

I want to start with the Sweet Dreams Aero Long Sleeve Jersey, a fully tailored race cut long sleeved top that has all the aero sculpting, cutting-edge stretch fabrics and ventilation you expect, but with a beautiful, eye-catching floral design.

It’ a lovely long sleeve jersey, the floral pattern with its green and pinky red colors really sets it apart from the usual racing gear. The Italian made stretch fabric is soft and breathable, with SPF 50 protection, making this a great option for spring, summer and autumn days. The female specific race cut, with the second-skin style providing great aerodynamics and good compression without feeling restrictive in any way. A rear pocket and full-length zip add practicality, making this a wonderful jersey to wear even on longer rides.

The range also includes aero socks that feature the same floral design. Again, blending practical touches such as fast drying Lycra material and vertical, textural stripes for improved aerodynamics and a unique and attractive design, they offer the performance we all want with a look that I love.

I paired the two patterned Sweet Dreams items with the very comfortable DS PRO Signature Mini Bibshorts, the all-white scheme matching perfectly with the floral design of the jersey and socks. They feature a snug fit and multi-panel professional cut, with well positioned padding and enough compression to give a flattering look without restricting movement.

On the bike

The question is, what are they like to use? The idea is to offer high-performance clothing that also gives a wonderful look, in terms of design, style and colors. All three garments achieve that, and more. The way the fabric is cut and shaped makes the shorts and jersey especially flattering. There is plenty of compression, but never at the expense of mobility. They are every bit the performance clothing that they claim. The well stitched seams and support from the material feel really comfortable even on longer rides.

These are not just technically great either, unlike much of the performance clothing I usually find, the Sweet Dreams range also made me feel special too. The design and colors are beautiful, they feel feminine and soft, without sacrificing any of the performance I want when out on a ride. Its not often that I see my reflection and smile when in my bike gear, but with these I did.

The Sweet Dreams range from DS Pro have great designs, flattering cut and compression and are really comfortable too. Definitely my favorite bike gear of the year, and I’ll be wearing my Sweet Dreams jersey as often as I can.
