Specialist operator H+I Adventures is leading the charge in e-mountain bike travel, set to be the big trend in adventure travel for 2020. The international mountain biking experts will be launching five new battery-assisted tours for the year ahead, offering riders experiences from pedalling through the deserts of Namibia and Alpine descents in Switzerland, to a circumnavigation of the Sierra Nevada in Spain.

The popularity of e-mountain bikes has increased hugely in recent years and the technology has progressed too. The bikes are now much lighter and more fun to ride and are perfect for those who need a little assistance on the ascents.

H+I have fully committed to the e-mtb trend and each of the new tours has been designed specifically for the e-mountain bikes. The destinations chosen have local guides with experience of e-mtb and the itineraries have been designed specifically for the discipline, with charging points factored in and avoiding trails where carrying the bike or river crossings would be needed. Commenting, Euan Wilson, co-founder of H+I Adventures said: “We recognised early on that e-mountain biking is a different prospect from traditional mountain biking, and could not just be ‘bolted on’ to our existing adventures. We wanted to take time to learn as much as we could about e-mountain bikes, e-mtb riders and travelling on e-mtb, and we’ve crafted these new holidays to allow riders to join the e-volution of mountain bike travel.”
