Nadezhda Pavlova, Editor in Chief
Looking for road cycling routes around Guardamar Del Segura, then this one is ideal for you. Cycling in and around Calpe and this area of the Spanish coast is top quality, with many of the world’s top teams basing themselves nearby. The riding is tough, with steep climbs, but very enjoyable.
The Rebate loop is a difficult and long ride, requiring excellent fitness levels and good descending skills. However, if you have these prerequisites, then you’ll enjoy superb views and ride a route that will remain with you and bring lots of smiles in the Spanish sun.

Refreshments & Where to Stay
You’re on the southern coast of Spain – there’s endless superb places to stay and to eat and drink too. 🙂 Take a look at the Booking.com link on this page.
A tough and steep climbers route, with long climbs in the heat and technical descents. Some of the road surfaces aren’t perfect tarmac, but they’re necessary on this epic ride into the coastal hills. Care, fitness and ability are required. Take plenty of fluids.
1. Starting from Los Narejos, the road climbs upwards immediately, with a brief respite at 9.7 km before the real ascent begins.
2. At 12 km prepare to tackle Rebate, a climb of over 14 km, with a few short rests along the way, before things continue upwards steeply, testing your cycling stamina and mental fortitude.
3. On reaching the summit, there’s a technical and twisting descent to tackle, all the way to San Miquelde Salinas, before we loop around and climb Rebate again! You may wish to take on a coffee beforehand 😉
4. After the second ascent of this epic climb, we head for home, via a short 4 km climb at Las Escalericas. Once summitted, it’s simply a flowing ride back of some 20 km descending back to the start and a well earned rest.
