When you think of the Alps, you instinctively think of Austria and Switzerland – 2 awesome mountains nations. Everywhere that you look are sublime mountains, with trails that take you into the hills. From Saalbach and Kitzbuhel in Austria, to Davos and Lugano in Switzerland, the options are endless.

We’ll be writing about the best areas to visit and showing you a few of our favourite routes. All that you need is a sense of adventure, a great bike and a fewfriends to enjoy it with.

The Alps is a brilliant but tough mountain biking area. You’ll need the right skills, including navigation and first aid. After all, if you’re out in the hills, you may be some distance away from help. Thankfully, there’s some great mountain guides and selected tours available to help you out.

Don’t forget to ensure that your holiday insurance covers these mountain adventure activies though. An unplanned rescue could be quite expensive.
