SIGR Sverigeloppet Black Jersey for Ladies
by Diane Vilarem
“Beautiful, comfortable cycling jerseys for going fast in. But a jersey that also look great at the coffee stop”.
I’m a woman and an athlete; so I want to be able to perform well and to look good too. Testing jerseys from SIGR has been fun. The designs are stylish and beautiful, and thankfully perform as good as they look.
Sverigeloppet got its name from the classic Swedish road race with the same name, which went from Haparanda in the north to Ystad in the south in 7 stages (as a sidenote, the race is back on this year, check it out Home (sverigeloppet.bike). This modern jersey from Swedish brand SIGR has a brave design, with the body in black base and greyish pattern to the fabric, together with a red stripe over the left shoulder around the right arm. It’s super lightweight, has a built in UV SPF30 protection to the technical fabric, as well as mesh panels on the sides that allows your body to breath better during your ride.
The material used by SIGR is called “Bluesign” and is made of 100% recycled Italian/Spanish fabrics, keeping the sustainability promise in place. This is a very good initiative, given that most polyester jerseys are made out of crude oil. The jersey also has 3 rear pockets with a zipped side pocket to keep your money in place. The fit is good, it breaths well and enables good air circulation through the mesh side panels, which is welcome in hotter climates and stretches just enough.
Holding it all in place at the hem, the jersey also has the silicon grip at the waist and arm cuff, making it more resistant to edge wear. Ultimately, it’s a well cut and well thought out design that fits you perfectly.
I really like the history behind this jersey, it’s ethical production and the design – well done for creating this SIGR!
This dynamic modern brand is doing what it can to spread equality in sport and to increase awareness of a more sustainable living. I’ll be honest, at first I was a bit skeptical, but after reading up on their ideas and actually having tried out their jerseys I am hooked! The design is chic and modern and also looks wonderful to relax in at the coffee shop, which is of course a necessity here in the South of France 😉
SIGR also design cycling clothes for commuting, which are also pretty cool! Check it out on their webpage www.sigr.cc .
In conclusion then, SIGR has managed to create a beautiful yet simple sustainable style, and one that also performs well in action – that has to be a good recommendation. Heja Sverige!
Stay sporty and classy!
Diane 🙂
