SIGR White Horizon Cycling Jersey
by Chris Galley
Sigr has been a favourite of Pedalnorth for some time. They consistently design and deliver cycling apparel gold with that touch of Swedish class. You just know if you buy one of their products that it will be just right for the job, well thought through and provides that level of class that other roadies will nod their heads in appreciation when they pass. That’s because you’ve bypassed the obvious, cut out the stupidly expensive and purchased something they’d like to wear. Yorkshire in the summer and early autumn is pretty similar to Sweden so when Sigr sent us their summer offerings we were only too pleased to get out there and test out the White ‘Horizon’ cycle jersey.
Firstly the fit. I picked the XXL. Sizing goes from XS to XXL; however I could have easily fitted into an XL. It’s slightly bigger than the Sigr size guide suggests – but I’m happy with that as it provides just a little extra space to move about in, And, it certainly gives generous all day comfort when riding, which is what counts.
It features SPF30 protection, mesh side panels for ventilation, silicone upper arm grips and bottom hem silicone grip with elastic to cinch it all in. Great YKK zips all round and after several washes it looks just as good now as it did right out of the packet. Finishing touches like reflective branding, soft feel collar, ample pockets with a cable hole in the zipped pocket and that red side flash with sigr branding just ramp up the class levels.
Riding in this jersey is easy. It stays where you want it, arms too. It protects from the sun as described and just like the best things in life you hardly know you are wearing a jersey. It’s very breathable and when you stop for that well earned coffee and cake it dries quickly too. You can pack all those extras into the pockets including waterproofs. The zipped pocket provides security and these pockets are held in place with robust stitching onto a separate internal cloth panel.
The looks are pleasing. Sharp, crisp black lines on a bold white background. Black and reflective branding and a single red branding flash means this jersey has a classical look. It will certainly not grow old and I’m sure it will remain in your jersey rotation list for a long time to come.
Sigr pride themselves on their sustainability and ethical manufacturing process. Design and prototyping is 100% digital, fabrics are produced from 100% recycled materials and they want you to keep hold of this product for years to come rather than bend to fashion. That way you’ll buy one classic product rather than buying many unethically made and supposably fashionable items throughout your cycling life. It’s a fantastic and very nordic manufacturing choice.
As always, Sigr has produced another classic. Well made, great to wear, great to be seen in and will look as good in many years to come as it does today.
