Craft Cadence Handlebar Bag

Commuting is on the increase, along with that basic fun style of cycling, where you simply want to take a ride with friends or family to nice places. Those trips where you’re more interested in the place than the speed. It’s commuting and fun social cycling where the Craft Cadence Handlebar Bag comes into its own.
A cheeky days holiday gave me the opportunity to start my tests of the Craft Cadence Handlebar Bag and the long neglected hybrid bike was bought out of hibernation for the event. In a super bright and hard-to-miss yellow material, the bag was easy to attach to the handlebars with the help of two adjustable plastic straps, which were simple to clip on after having a peek at the pictures on craft cadences website. It also comes with an additional hook and loop strap to secure it around the stem so it doesn’t wobble about even if you’re going off road. Definitely simplicity and speedy, which is what we want on trips like this or commute.
The plan for the first test ride was to go on a nice social route with a friend, taking a trip along an old railway line which still has the original pitch black tunnels, so I moved my front light to clip it on to the attachment on the front of the bag. Thankfully the bag was spot on and the light was the perfect fit! I was wearing a really sensible choice of clothing for the occasion- a dress – so with the complete lack of pockets, I loaded in my phone, some spare cash and some snacks and there was plenty of room for much more.
The top of the bag folds over and is secured with a buckle so even if you go flying your valuables are safe. Additionally, the fabric used is entirely waterproof, meaning that you could even take it for an accidental dip or get caught in a torrential rainstorm without having to worry about your flapjack or work items getting soggy. As a commuter bag, this is important, especially if you have your day clothes in the bag. As an addition, it even comes with a clip on shoulder strap, so if you need to lock your bike up somewhere, you don’t have to take all the valuables out. How convenient is that 🙂
All in all this is the perfect little day-bag to keep the essentials in if you’re out for the day, or the ideal commuter bag or for trips to the shop in this new greener age. You could fit a full packed lunch with space for more if you wanted to. The intense bright colour is also perfect for adding some extra visibility and would make it difficult to lose, but if you prefer to be a bit less showy, it also comes in a smart black with plenty of reflective details.
It’s a well constructed bag, with taped seams and should last you a good few years. If it’s a waterproof, hi-vis and roomy handlebar bag that you’re after, then this one from Craft Cadence could be just the ticket, without being flash, but doing the simple things very well.
