Try a Pirelli or Two… with Red Chilli Sauce 😉
by Larisa Chinces, Managing Editor (Reviews)
It’s autumn and soon it will be winter. We have some sunny days, during which we can still enjoy riding in shorts, but soon it will get really cold – chilli 😉
When the temperatures do drop lower and the wet and rainy weather will be most likely, it won’t be possible to cycle outside for a while. The snow will come and for safety and for the cold, we’ll have time retreat and to cycle indoors or ski 🙂 – not so bad I guess 😉 .
For now, I’m trying to ride as much as I can, and to use my new Red Chilli as often as time allows. It’s colder already though, and sometimes the roads are damp and slippery, bringing dangers. Sometimes it’s nice and sometimes the rain catches me on the route. Thankfully though, I have Pirelli PZero 26mm tyres, which are superb and super sticky.
Confidence is the most important thing, when riding in these conditions, and I’m very content with the Pirelli Pzero tyres. They’re ideal in just about all conditions, and I’ll change tyre pressures based on this too. Since I’ve fitted them on the RedChilli and cycled on them, I’ve never had a flat tyre , nor a skid – phew! I’ve cycled on really heavy rain and the bike was stable, even though I kept my speed as on dry, because I didn’t want to get cold , and do I stayed riding hard to stay warm. So yes, a good bike and hood tyres are critical, and my Red Chilli loves the Pirelli’s, as do I. These tyres really meet all the requirements for high quality rides on a long term basis.
At heart I’m a lover of the hills and the wild countryside. I love cycling through the mountains and the lower meadows in the valley, especially around Sibiu, which has beautiful countryside at this time of the year. I really love the landscape transition from a season to another, in this case from summer to autumn.
Not only the trees that change their colors etc, but also the vibe overall; the air, the sounds, the tasty smell from the riped fruits and vegetables. The route which I really like to do, begins from Sibiu, then it heads towards Poplaca on the Calea Poplacii, continuing to Gura Riului through a very beautiful open road with cultivated fields and hills and mountains in the backround. The views of farmland and villages in the rolling valleys are amazing. From Gura Riului go to Orlat – Sibiel – Saliste and then back to Sibiu via E81 international european road.
Overall it’s a 60 km approximate route with beautiful scenery and some challenging decent climbs, which I’m sure that anyone who is passionate about cyling will enjoy this route as I do. It’s especially nice on my Red Chilli WR1 bike 🙂 .
Although I would have liked to have unlimited summer weather for cycling, I am also waiting excitedly for winter , so I can ski 😉 . Luckily, in winter I can do both – cycling and skiing. As much as I like cycling on snow with the Mtb, it isn’t always possible – but I’m looking forward to riding indoors again. Thankfully, Elite have provided me with the very best interactive trainers available – the Direto XR and the Nero rollers, which are amazing. I’m really excited to see how the Red Chilli handles the trainers and how it feels.
Also, I’ve got new cycling shoes from Lake to use, so it’s a great way to test these too, and get used to them. Beautiful, simple with white and black little details and logo on them. The Lake CX 177 is a really comfortable cycling shoe, due to it’s high quality fabrics, the wider shape and fit, and the use of BOA technology to help in wrapping my feet. They are super light and classy , and stylish with all my clothing – hey, that’s important too!
I’ve taken them on some long rides already, and I’m very pleased with how they feel and look. They match with my Kask helmet and as I say, also with my diverse cyling outfits.
I got used with my RedChilli WR1 very quick, as it was specially made for me. I enjoy it very much and I’m melting everytime I see it’s colors. It is indeed so very special for me, and I love it. It runs very smoothly and fits with my physical condition (athlete level) . I love cyling on it , exploring the roads here in Romania and taking it on my wonderful journeys. If the weather allows during autumn, (which I really hope it does) , I’ll ride outside and enjoy the weather transition with all it’s ’gifts’. Yes, autumn is heading to winter, but we all need to stay active and to keep exploring – and my beautiful Red Chilli bike is my own special way of doing this!
