VOOM POCKET ROCKET ENERGY BARS

Food is fuel. The right energy bar under the right circumstances can be crucial in a race or ride. The VOOM bars are designed to provide quick energy burst during exercise, that’s why they are high in carbohydrates, which are easily digested and absorbed quickly into the bloodstream – this can be good if you are on a 3-hour bike ride or racing, and out in the mountains here in Transylvania.
I’ve been using and testing the VOOM Pocket Rocket energy bars both in training and in my races. The Pocket Rocket energy bars were developed as an alternative to the gel and I’ve found them easier to manage within a nutrition plan on the bike. I never had serious stomach problems with the gels, only some discomfort here and there; although my cycling friends are afraid to take gels in a race, because they get a disturbed stomach after. They are made of real fruits after all, which is a benefit for the stomach. For me it was more easy to eat the bars during race and training due to its structure, because it consists of a 4 block design which is genuinely practical for dosing the bar quantity intake, so the energy lasts you the whole ride/race. You can consume one piece every 30 mins or 2 piece however you want to divide the amount of the bar, because they are easy to reach and eat. Ultimately that’s what we want as an athlete, something quick and easy and which performs.
What I really like the most about the bars, is that these VOOM energy nutrition bars melt in the mouth without having problems with the stickiness and they don’t mess up your jersey, which often happens with gels. Also, they have a tasty fruity flavor and deliver fast-acting carbohydrates to ensure that you’ll always be fueled with the right fire, which is exactly what you need!!

I train hard and race even harder, it’s in my blood – I’m a competitor. With the VOOM supplies and support behind me, I feel as though I much more energy during my rides and races. It has definitely helped me with my performance in sport this year and hopefully in the future. During a tough mountain bike race across the mountains in August, VOOM was essential to me, with nothing else around to fuel me. Thankfully, I’m really finding that my energy levels seem to last longer and I’ve been able to push myself even harder, winning the first place in the recent regional duathlon race here in Transylvania. I’ll be using them over autumn and winter as I train indoors too, and during my skiing season, so it’ll be interesting to see how they help in these areas.
Like any food, energy bars consist of macronutrients (protein, carbohydrates, and fat) and micronutrients (vitamins, minerals, and essential fatty acids). I’m loving the Lime and the awsome Orange flavours, but let’s look at the details of the VOOM energy bars.
