The seaons have changed again. Time for spring spins! Last article I talked about how I prepare my RedChilli bike for riding after a long cold winter. Today I want to talk about my first rides in spring.
Romania Mountain Biking – Ride From Ciungetu and around Vf Paraginosu
This is an epic ride into the hills, with a long and steep start. However, you’re more than rewarded, with an epic and extremely long descent through the hills and forests. The views over the mountains are spectacular, and you’re also close enough to historic Sibiu, a World Heritage Site city, to make it your base for a great cycling vacation.
Romania MTB – Rasinari to Paltinis Hills
The mountains around the Paltinis resort are covered in magnificent forests, with isolated meadows and mountain tops. There’s a wealth of trails to explore, and this one is just a short distance from historic Sibiu, a World Heritage Site, and its endless accommodation options
Paltinis – Saua Batrana and hills MTB
This is an epic route, in the mountains near to historic Sibiu. Paltinis is a superb year-round resort, being a ski centre in the winter, and an awesome mountain bike centre in spring, summer and autumn. The climbing here is tough, but the views and the descents are spectacular.
Cisnadie & Magura Climbs MTB Route
A great days biking exploration and adventure, into the forested mountains of Transylvania. Lots of climbing, rewarded by epic descents

Transfagarasan Challenge and the Growth of Cycling in Romania
I love Transylvania simply because it’s the polar opposite of the usual U.K. cycling arrogance. Everything is so well planned, well organised, relaxed, friendly and open. It doesn’t matter either if you turn up on a Bianchi or on a Decathlon bike – so long as it’s got 2 wheels and you’ve got the spirit of adventure.
Tenerife SW Coast and inland climbs
A long and hot day in the mountians, this is a climbers route. There’s so much to see on this ride, which skirts the volcano of Mt. Teide, and takes you through the wild and beautiful mountains of Tenerife, to the highest village, at Vilaflor 🙂
Los Cristanos to Vilaflor summit – Tenerife
This is one of the best routes on Tenerife, with superb views all day long. It takes you from the coast, high into the mountains, to the village of Vilaflor, the highest village on the island of Tenerife
Poris de Abona Tenerife
This short but scenic route takes you on a ride from Arico, through the windmills and the pretty coastal town of Poris de Abona, which is located in the southern part of the island. Time to simply relax and enjoy the ambience of this magical Balearic Island.
