It was only in recent years that the UCI took steps to develop women’s cycling progression, through a new tiered system: Continental, Pro and World Tour level team structure. The Belgium based Baloise Minimax WB Ladies team are just one example of how women’s cycling is finally adapting to the greater support, as they drive forward into the UCI Continental ranks, developing future members of the women’s pro peloton.

There’s currently a chaotic feeling of uncertainty around the world and the global cycling scene. However, we all have to stay focused and to try to ride into a more positive future. I’m not advocating retail therapy as a solution. No, not at all. Rather, it’s simply time to accept that we need to pause and reflect on how we spend money on new bikes and new cycling products.
